CLUSTERS LAST STAND

The journey from vine to glass. Scribner Bend Vineyards.

Night time is the right time.  Grapes are harvested at night at lower temperatures to prevent early fermentation.

The labor is intense. The workers have a phenomenal rhythm and choreography.

Each cluster is cut with surgical precision.

Gratifying inspection of the crop!

The bounty from the vineyard….

…to the winery.

The “heavy lifting”. Separating the grapes from the chaff before crushing.

The long wait in a confined space.

Eventually, it’s time to “put a cork in it”.

Most wineries use a mobile bottling service since they don't need the equipment all year long.

It is not called a farming "community" for nothing.  Friends and neighbors show up for any major project.

New bottles go in...

The bottles are filled to a precise amount...

Then corked...

And finally sealed and labeled...

Quality control even for the label.

And the “man behind the magic” is Cuong Tran, Winemaker. He was the Cask Master for many years. He was promoted to Winemaker and nailed a Double Gold at the California State Fair with his first submission. That means that all five judges gave him first place from all the other contestants in the state.

And this is Mark and Lorraine Scribner.  They are the epitome of good stewards of the land - generous, compassionate, hard working - and just the nicest folks!

Every visitor to Scribner Bend feels at home and welcome.  Mark said, "We don't primarily sell wine.  You can buy wine at the store.  Our most important commodity is experience.  We want Scribner Bend to be a special part of your life."

The wine release with my label was held on August 29th, 2021 along with The Delta Art Show.

The turnout was quite large considering the summer heat and marginal air quality due to lingering fire smoke. We really appreciate the support from all of our family and friends who came out to share in this event - and the new friends we met that day!

As they say, a splendid time was had by all…..
